A VLC app is being developed for Apple TV

The developers behind VLC are working on bringing the popular free app to the new Apple TV. VideoLAN lead developer Jean-Baptiste Kempf wrote on his blog today that the team is currently working on the project, though the app is still in its early stages. VLC is a media app that allows users to play audio and video files in a wide variety of formats. The TV app, which lets you stream media to your living room, already has a presence on a number of set-top boxes, including the Amazon Fire TV and Android TV. This will be the first time it appears on Apple's own device, though it won't be alone. The company behind Plex, another popular app that lets your stream files from your computer, just announced that it will support the Apple TV.
